Girl Talk: New Run Gear!

With the Summer sun peaking out from the clouds, I’ve been testing out lightweight run gear to keep cool in the heat. Check out the latest threads and kicks I put to the test. . .

Merrell Afton Shorts
These feather-light shorts first caught my eye because of the wide waistband. I’m a sucker for any short that discourages the dreaded muffin-top effect, and these fit the bill. Since these shorts don’t have a built in liner, plan on going commando or wearing your favorite comfy undies for a personalized fit. The small zippered pocket allows enough room for a gel and house key for ladies on-the-go! $45,

Asics Favorite Racerback Tank
The sun rays might shine beauty on the terrain I’m running, but they can wreak havoc on my delicate skin. I love Asics’ UPF line of clothing because it provides an extra layer of protection against harmful sun rays. This tank is super cute, lightweight and delivers a UPF of 50+. The anti-smelly technology also meant I wasn’t scaring off friends after a sweaty group run! $35,

Moving Comfort Juno Bra
Being well endowed means I need a sports bra that can handle a tough job. I love the Juno bra because it keeps my girls on lockdown without creating the feared uni-boob effect. This seam free, molded contour bra keeps me feeling secure and supported from easy runs to full on speed work. I love the racerback styling with hook closure because I can get it on and off without dislocating my arm or shoulder blades! $56,

Adidas Energy Boost Shoes
I was first introduced to these shoes at the Boston Marathon expo and couldn’t wait to see what all the hype was about. Adidas uses a new midsole technology (coined “boost”) to provide the shoe with higher energy transfer efficiency while upping the level of cushion. My report = they nailed it. Feeling like I have an extra spring in my step, these lightweight shoes quickly became my go-to pair. I found the size to run a tiny bit small, so make sure to order up a 1/2 size in this model. $150,

Oakley Twentysix.2 Sunglasses
A self-proclaimed sunglass junkie, I love a pair that mixes fashion and function. These Oakley shades go the distance (and have the coolest name for a run nerd like me!). The featherweight frame comes with built-in nose pads to keep them secure on your face while shielding your eyes from the elements. The large lenses equal more protection while delivering a fashion-forward shape. Available in standard, polarized or prescription lenses, these glasses can fit the demands of any busy run-girl! $130,
