Rena The Runner

My Name is Rena Campbell, here is my story:

“Running saved my life. I was 264 pounds ( I am 5’1 so that’s a lot of weight on a small frame) , a smoker, depressed and had no self esteem. I woke up one day and decided enough was enough. That day was March 13, 2011. I began walking, using the treadmill, lifting weights, doing crunches, eating healthy and gave up smoking. Walking led to jogging and jogging led to running.

I lost 100 pounds in a year.

…April 2012 I ran my first race ever…the Country Music Half Marathon. I was clueless. I didn’t start with a 5k or 10k my first race was 13.1miles. That was 3 years ago…This weekend I will run my 63rd race! 63 races in 3 years.

I am not fast, but I have endurance and I thank God that I am part of the running community! Running keeps me fit, healthy and very happy!

I am living proof that change is possible! No surgeries, no fad diets…just fresh air, and moving my feet while I enjoy nature! Running saved my life! I don’t live to run…I run to live!!!”
