I would rather run Slow and say “I DID IT” …

My best friend and I just finished a 10K in Bad Axe, Michigan. We finished in last. By a long shot. Neither of us minded, as we both deal with chronic disease ( thyroid for her, heart and kidney for me). I was so incredibly sad to be treated rudely at the aid station, at every mile marker, and then at the finish line. Upon finishing, our men informed us that the volunteers at the line spent the entire time bad mouthing us, talking about how we must “just be running for our health.” I would also like to point out that we ran 12 minute miles. Not gazelles, but not the slowest either! I am so saddened by how this race was handled. I know that the running community is so much better than this, and I am still proud to be a part of it. End rant
